I have been a supporter for Animal Asia Foundation for many years now. They are simply amazing. Jill Robinson, the founder has moved many mountains in the world of Moon and Sun Bear rescue which many people felt was not possible. Having given up her life in the UK and relocated out to China in order to be hands on with the bears and talk directly to the people she needed to negotiate with, it is evident that Animal Asia Foundation can be proud of its accomplishments.

Journey to Freedom on Friday the 26th of June was again a spectacular and heart warming event filled with the charity’s ever present regular supporters and celebrities.

Hosted by the ever compassionate Peter Egan, with wonderful acts by The Downton Abbey Cast, speeches by Jill Robinson, Virginia Mckenna and Rula Lenska and an incredible finale by astoundingly talented musician Rick Wakeman.

Jill Robinson took the audience through a heart warming run down of the year’s accomplishments including the wonderful rescue of the Halong Bay Bears – it really was quite spectacular. Also to relive the ‘Two Legged Lelly’ story was amazing. I am so happy that AA came to Lelly’s rescue when she hit the news after being photographed begging for food at a train station in China, with a litter of pups and only two front legs. She is now safe and happily homed.

Also it was great to hear what they are planning on tacking in late 2015 and 2016. Areas such as the horrendous pig festival in China, the dog and cat meat trade and the ongoing fight to stop the cruel spectacle of performing animals. As well as their extremely successful Dr Dog and Professor Paws programmes which are really changing people’s lives and perception of dogs in China.

Animals Asia will remain firmly in my heart as one of my best loved charities with a warm and compassionate image and a wonderful figurehead Jill, whose work reaches across all continents and touches the hearts of millions.
