Veganuary – The Wrap Party

tibitsVeganuary was such an exciting month and the whole event culminated in an exciting wrap party where many of the people who took part were invited to celebrate at vegetarian / vegan restaurant Tibits off Regents Street, London.

Tibits was really beautiful and its location on Heddon Street is a magical location, being a pedestrian walkway lit up with fairy lights and hardy palm trees.

The fabulous Veganuary team Matthew Glover, Jane Land and Clea Grady had reserved the whole of the downstairs and everything was decorated so cosy with balloons and tea lights. A magnificent green cake with coconut green grass took centre stage a clad with candles and farmyard animals.

The food was unbelievable and was served up buffet style. Usually there is a choice of vegetarian and vegan food, but as the evening was for Veganuary, everything on the buffet was 100% vegan. Such tasty food made up with curries, salads, hot bean casseroles, rice dishes and steaming hot vegan deserts. The cream toppings for the deserts were made from coconut cream and simply amazing.

Being the resident presenter for the night, I arrived with Green World TV and we covered the event interviewing founders Matthew Glover and his gorgeous wife Jane Land about the trials and tribulations of the whole brand of Veganuary. We found out just how much hard work they have put into the whole branding and company and their dedication to their passion in encouraging meat eaters to convert to veganism. There were freshly converted vegans present and it was so interesting to listen to their stories and how far everyone had come and how healthy and amazing everyone felt now.

It’s jaw dropping to think that Veganuary has only been active for two years yet, in this small space of time, they have accomplished so much. Thousands upon thousands of supporters worldwide and more supporters in the USA, which for a UK based company is pretty impressive. Celebrities are now climbing aboard the wagon and next year is set to be amazing and luckily Joy Ogude and myself will be the official presenters again for Veganuary 2016, its going to be even bigger and better!

Later in the evening, the cake was lit and it was tainted with some scary humour as the farmyard animals caught on fire and had to be rescued from the melting cake. Everyone had a good laugh and the cake still tasted incredible! Clea Grady made a wonderful heartfelt speech and everyone played some fun games such as pass the parcel and guess how many vegan sweets in the jar.

All in all a wonderful night.
